I am going to say something that is shocking. There are 58 days left until Christmas as of this writing!! There are so many things to do before the timer runs down and one thing on my list is to find a statement earring that swings elegant and edgy depending on what I wear and which other accessories I pair it with. These Alighieri Apollos pearl earrings will check those boxes for sure. These earrings are inspired by Dante’s Inferno in which he pleads with the god of creativity to make him worthy of the journey in which he embarks. The freshwater pearls are also a nod to Bernini’s marble sculpture of Daphne and Apollo.

This is the Bernini sculpture which inspired the Alighieri earrings. The sculpture is in the Borghese Gallery in Rome, Italy, and is completely captivating in person. The emotion and movement of the figures carry you along in the story until you forget that you’re looking at a piece of marble. Super quick back story in case you’ve forgotten your Greek mythology (like I did). Apollo sees Daphne, who is a river nymph (those poor nymphs are always being chased), and falls in love with her. To save her from Apollo’s sexual advances, her father turns her into a laurel tree. Which you can see happening in the sculpture! Apollo uses his powers of eternal youth and immortality to make Daphne’s laurel leaves evergreen. Now back to beautiful things which are inspired by the art around us like this bracelet.
This amazing cuff would pair nicely with the Alighieri earrings because of its lightness and sculptural feel. But it would also look amazing paired with a white tee and layers of gold chains.
This boot sells out every year and I always seem to be too late. Not this year! There are plenty in stock and I’m pulling the trigger. These are a classic for a reason. They are good-looking, affordable, durable and warm. You need these.
This faux fur scarf will keep you warm and brighten up all the black we wear in the dead of winter.
I can never get enough of army green. It is a universally flattering color and always gives off a cool vibe. This jacket from Mango can also function as a shirt which makes it super versatile. You can leave it open with a tank underneath or zip it halfway and leave it untucked like the model has done. Would also make a great piece for travel.
