Summer. The daylight stretches itself to the breaking point with blazing light ebbing into a magical everglow. Everything seems just a little less hurried and schedules seem to have more of an expansive quality to them. Extra cup of coffee? Yes, please! Extra Mambo taxi? Always!
So, as the earth’s axis begins its slow tilt toward the Autumnal Equinox, these are the best days to get caught up in new and old stories. Stories that challenge, equip, frustrate, frighten, and leave behind heartache and sorrow–extracting in us our common humanity. Books that give us eyes to see and ears to hear what we can never imagine or experience. Stories that give us wings to travel to far away lands with strange sounding names, but underneath the unfamiliar we recognize the universal.
I hope these books inspire great musings and conversation this summer. Happy reading!
