Fair Isle sweaters are having a moment and if you’re like me you have absolutely no idea why these brightly colored knit sweaters are called “Fair Isle”. Here’s a super quick tutorial: Fair Isle is an island off the coast of Scotland where approximately 60 people live! The winters are insanely harsh and the wives of sailors traditionally knit these sweaters and over the years this technique was kept a secret. But in 1921, Prince Edward of Wales wore a Fair Isle vest in public and outed the Fair Isle wives. And the fashion world is forever indebted to Prince Edward for his bold sartorial choice. This one from L.L. Bean is more on the subdued side but still checks the colorful box and the $89 price can’t be beat (some colors are on sale for $69). I think this style looks better a little oversized, so I’m going to order a L to wear with leather pants or paired with a midi skirt and lace up boots.
This jacket is a great value for the look and performance. I bought this jacket last year before it sold out, and I kid you not, it is one of the warmest and softest jackets I own.
Pearls were still showing up on all the street style influencers during NY Fashion Week. The trend toward reinventing traditional jewelry into something much more modern and whimsical is here to stay. So if you haven’t gotten in on this new way to wear pearls, there’s still plenty of time and this necklace is a no brainer.
If you’re a fan of 24 or Homeland you will love the Netflix and BBC original show Bodyguard. It’s a sweaty palm, nail-biting show within the first 10 minutes of the first episode and it never lets up. Since there are only 6 episodes it’s binge worthy in the truest sense of the word.
This is a great brand that offers clean products that actually work! This bronzer is super easy to use and the color is subtle. I just mix in 1/2 pump into a pea size squirt of my tinted moisturizer and presto magico I look like I spent the week at the beach, which is always a good thing!
